Haddon Heights, NJ (PAII) April 9, 2009 – A Bucks County, Pennsylvania innkeeper was recently in the culinary spotlight at the 2009 Innkeeping Conference and Trade Show, hosted by the Professional Association of Innkeepers International (PAII) in Atlanta, Georgia.
In a competition between an innkeeper and an award-winning hotel chef, Mike Amery from the Inn at Bowman's Hill, New Hope, Pennsylvania was named the winner in the live breakfast cook-off. Amery competed against Chef Fritz Doss, Executive Chef at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia. Chef Doss is known for his culinary creativity and in 2008 was named Chef of the Year for Hyatt Hotels. The event was hosted by “the eggman” Howard Helmer, who once made 427 omelets in 30 minutes to claim the Guinness World Record.
Amery's winning recipe, a breakfast soufflé with stuffed ham—a small roulade of ham, filled with a blend of mushrooms, onion, bacon & sharp cheddar cheese, form-baked in a mixture of egg, sour cream, peppers and chives, served with fresh chives tomato and a roasted red pepper sauce; proved to be the crowd favorite in a close competition. Multi-course gourmet breakfasts—even in bed—are a trademark feature at The Inn at Bowman's Hill that is increasingly recognized as one of the top bed and breakfast inns in the nation.
The Innkeeping Conference and Trade Show is the largest gathering of innkeepers in the world and provides educational resources and networking opportunities for innkeepers.
