Getting B&B Associations on the Right Track - Facilitated Workshop by Bob Harris 

One of the most critical elements of association management and effectiveness is having a solid, clear plan.  In the B&B industry, very few associations have spent the necessary time building and following plans for their own success.  For the Key Leaders Retreat, we are bringing in Bob Harris, a well-respected association consultant and speaker - known as the "Martha Stewart of association management."

Bob trains association boards and staff throughout the world, providing case studies and best practices that can be applied to your own organization. While he’ll focus on the importance of a strategic plan and how to develop it to be an effective tool for membership recruitment, he’ll also touch on board responsibilities and risk management. The outcomes should be improvements in your associations and new resources.

Bob will cover:
    • Importance of Associations and Literature on Trends/Membership
    • Board Roles in Governing an Association – Practical Approach
    • Risk Management 
    • Role of a Strategic Plan and Direction in the Organization
    • Creating and Implementing the Strategic Plan
 
PAII and Allied Associations
We will continue the discussion of what services PAII is providing or can provide in the future to aide in the success of participating B&B associations. This discussion will include the Association Services Program that was created as a result of last September's Key Leaders Retreat.

Industry Issues

We will discuss the macro and micro issues impacting innkeepers, and what is ripe for collaboration. An example will be the short-term rental market and the regulation or deregulation that is impacting our own segment of lodging.
